33rd ANNUAL TREE PLANTING RAMBLE

In April of 1990, at a campsite near the Two Rock Run headwaters a fire raged out of control and burnt more than 11,000 acres of forest and brush in the Sprould State Forest, Clinton County, PA. The fire was so significant it actually jumped the road and continued to rage on. The Pennsylvania Forestry Association began a Tree Planting Ramble in 1992 to assist in the recovery of the area. Each year in spring, with the support of committed volunteers we are able to continue the legacy of our members, Norm LaCasse and Henry Wessel. With our work we estimate we have planted close to 70,000 trees in the Two Rock Run area.
A special thank you to all of the dedicated folks that joined us for the 2025 Tree Planting Ramble in Sproul State Forest. We were able to plant over 2000 trees and had a few minutes of respite from the rain. A special thank you to the American Chestnut Foundation as well for their generosity of providing over 500 of the trees we needed.
Planting in the rain- makes the planting easy- but the mud never seems to leave.
