The 2008 State Tree Farm Inspector of the Year is Mark Lewis of Crawford County. He was recognized at the PFA annual meeting and banquet. Mark comes from a family long involved in forestry. Mark’s grandfather was a founder of Lewis and Hockenberry, Inc., a sawmill in Emporium, PA. His father worked at the same mill for over forty years. Mark graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1990 with a BS in Forest Science. He then worked at the family business for two years before joining the Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry. He is important to the Tree Farm Program as an excellent mentor and inspector.
