The 2006 award for Outstanding Tree Farm Inspector of the Year went to Tim Cole, Bureau of Forestry Service Forester for Huntingdon and Centre Counties. Tim, who joined the Bureau nine years ago, has been a strong supporter of the Tree Farm program. In that time, Tim has inspected and certified many tree farm properties in his work area.
Throughout his tenure with the Bureau, Tim has worked to support tree farming and the sustainable forestry mission by promoting the program to the more than 80 landowners he visits with each year, and by assisting with numerous forest landowners workshops and field tours by Penn State Cooperative Extension, County Conservation Districts, State Parks, and others. Tim also assists by staffing the Tree Farm display and running woodlot tours at events like Ag Progress Days.
Tim provides a lot of leadership and guidance to the forestry community. This includes serving as an advisor to the Woodland Owners of Centre County, as a member of the Penn State Extension Forest Resources Program Development Committee and serving on both the Centre and Huntingdon County Conservation District Boards and on the Huntingdon County Planning Committee.
