Dave Steward, Pennsylvania Outstanding Tree Farm Inspector of the Year 2002

In 2001, Dave Steward certified 11 new Tree Farms, completed all recertifications assigned to him, and served on the committee that hosted the National Tree Farm Committee in Pennsylvania.

Dave Steward earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry from Penn State and served the Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry for 35 years. Pennsylvania Tree Farm Committee Chair George Freeman remarked, “Dave was a dedicated Bureau of Forestry employee, always communicating the benefits of good forest management with forest landowners, conservation districts, Tree Farmers, and Forest Stewards.”

Since retiring in 1991, his dedication continues. Steward works as a consulting forester and has written over 80 Forest Stewardship Plans. He is a longtime member of the Society of American Foresters and PFA.
